West Ham United's development squad secured a narrow victory at Havant & Waterlooville last night thanks to an Elliot Lee brace.

The 19-year-old striker, who recently signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with the Hammers struck twice in the second half to deny the Hawks a share of the spoils.

Lee opened the scoring with little more than ten minutes of the game remaining when a deflected effort found its way into the back of the net.

Havant levelled the scores with just three minutes of normal time remaining when Bradley Bubb converted a 25-yard free kick, to the delight of the small but lively home crowd.

But West Ham - and Lee - were to end the match victorious, with Lee grabbing an injury-time winner having squeezed between two defenders before picking his spot.

The match also featured the out-of-favour Modibo Maiga, who has been told to train with the development squad until he can find a new club. The Malian, who cost West Ham 5million two years ago will not be offered a squad place by Sam Allardyce.

West Ham Utd: Sam Howey, Alex Pike, Nathan Mavilla, Emmanuel Onanse, Reece Burke, Moses Makasi, Matthias Fanimo, Keiran Bailey, Jordan Brown, Janni Gordon, Parfitt Williams.

Subs: Tim Brown, Modibo Maiga, Sam Westley, Kyle Knoyle, Amos Nasha, Josh Pask , Reece Oxford, Blair Turgott, Keiran Bywater, Elliott Lee, Keiran Sadlier.

Sub not used: Grady Diagana.
