Andy Carroll returns from pre-season tour

West Ham's Andy Carroll has returned to England to receive treatment on an injured ankle.

On Wednesday it was revealed here on KUMB.com that the striker could miss the start of the season - and several weeks thereafter - having damaged his ankle whilst training with the rest of the first team squad in New Zealand at the weekend.

And co-owner David Sullivan's son Jack followed up our story by confirming via Twitter last night that Carroll had already returned to the UK ahead of the travelling party.

Whilst the extent of Carroll's latest injury remains educated guesswork - at best - club staff are hopeful that the injury-cursed forward may yet recover in time to feature in the opening game of the 2014/15 campaign at home to Tottenham.

However a sizeable number of supporters are beginning to run out of patience with the club's record signing, who has been beset by a series of injury problems since first joining West Ham two years ago.
