Sam on Ravel

Sam Allardyce has denied reports that Ravel Morrison is not in his plans for next season.

The Hammers boss, speaking to Talksport earlier this morning believes that Morrison can be a part of his 2014/15 squad - but only if he applies himself correctly.

"We thought we'd brought Ravel to the forefront of his abilities this time last season, Allarydce - who also referred to the recent visit to New Zealand as "a trip too far" during the interview - said.

"He had a fantastic pre-season and started the season exceptionally well. That drifted away somewhat and he ended up with QPR on loan and helped them get promoted.

"He's had a little injury and hernia operation which is obviously going to help him. If he gets back to knuckling down, getting used to the discipline side of the game and training that's all Ravel has to do.

"His talents are absolutely outstanding and we'd all love to see them."

Allardyce al;so refuted reports that his position at the club was once again under threat.

"All the speculation [regarding my future] was put to bed but it's risen occasionally again," he said. "Here I am grafting away with the owners trying to bring the best players we possibly can to make this squad stronger and better for next season.

"Sometimes people run away with the expectation. It's year three back in the Premier League and we're moving forward in the right direction. We have to spend our money wisely, that's the most important thing and grow by getting a little better each year.

"Eventually you do try and hit the top half of the Premier League but that all depends on just how much money everyone else is spending. Some of the prices being bandied about are pretty frightening and to compete with that is sometimes difficult."
