Stoke City vs West Ham Utd: half time report

West Ham have it all to do in the second half if they are to maintain their unbeaten Premier League run.

A 33rd-minute Victor Moses goal has given Stoke a narrow half time advantage against a West Ham team that has thus far struggled to emulate their recent impressive form.

West Ham, having previously lost Winston Reid to injury were caught out by a deep cross that fell to goalscorer Moses. His shot was blocked by James Collins but the ball fell kindly to the City forward, who managed to poke the ball over the line at the second attempt.

That 1-0 lead was the least City deserved having bossed much of the opening half and but for the intervention of Adrian's left leg - which diverted Diouf's point-blank shot wide of the post in first half injury time - they would have been celebrating a two-goal advantage.

In stark contrast to recent weeks, West Ham failed to muster a single shot on target (from four shots) in the opening 45 minutes.

Stewart Downing should have at least hit the target after a lovely one-two with Alex Song in United's best move of the half. However the former England winger could only blast over the bar much to the chagrin of Song, who was far better placed to score.

That move summed up West Ham's first half, and Sam Allardyce will no doubt be looking to make a number of tactical adjustments during the break in order to retrieve the current deficit. We'll have more for you at the final whistle...
