It may be the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything - but 42 is also the number of West Ham's ball in next week's FA Cup third round draw!

It's one of the most eagerly-anticipated weekends of the football season, when the part-timers, the minnows and those featuring at the lower end of the football pyramid have the opportunity to test themselves against the giants of the Premier League.

On Monday evening in Hull, TV pundit Alan Shearer and local volunteer Paul Adamson will draw the 64 balls for this season's third round draw, for which West Ham have been granted the number 42.

A number of non-league clubs will be involved in the draw, such as Gateshead and Warrington Town (both number 55 as their second round tie remains unresolved), Dover Athletic (61 should they beat Cheltenham Town) plus Southport and Eastleigh (both 54).

Some of the other numbers to look out for with view to potential opponents include 27 (Millwall), 12 (Chelsea) and 25 (Manchester United). You may tune into Monday evening's live draw on BBC2 or thefa.com from 7pm.
