Zarate linked with Boleyn return as Cole interests Albion

Mauro Zarate could be returning to West Ham - after less than a month in west London with Queens Park Rangers.

Despite being included in Rangers' last three match day squads, the 27-year-old Argentine forward has featured for just 14 minutes as a substitute (in the 2-1 defeat at Barnsley) since moving to Loftus Road at the beginning of January.

According to a KUMB source, Rangers believe that Zarate - who has started just a handful of matches since arriving in England last summer - is less than fully fit, hence his lack of game time.

But with Carlton Cole being linked with a move to West Brom, the possibility of the former Velez Sarsfield striker returning to the Boleyn Ground has emerged - although time is rapidly running out for that sequence of events to occur, with less than four hours of the window left to go.

Premier League strugglers Albion are keen to add Carlton Cole's experience to their battle to avoid relegation. West Ham would be willing to part with the former Chelsea forward for a nominal fee, as his contract expires this summer.

* KUMB understand that at least one more potential swap deal is being considered by West Ham; we'll bring you further news on that as it happens.
