The first of the huge triangular light panels that will adorn the Olympic Stadium from 2016/17 were erected yesterday.
As KUMB's pictures show, the first of the 14 vast panels was carefully hoisted into place in the £500million stadium yesterday in what was on a cold and gloomy day in east London.Gently does it - up goes the first panel
Ready to land - the panel lined up nicely
The spine of the stadium's new roof
The new roof which holds the lights in place will be the largest cantilevered roof in the world, measuring approximately 45,000 square metres. At its deepest point, the roof is more than 80 metres in length.
West Ham's contribution to the £200million+ renovation costs is a paltry £15million. The club plan to move into the new stadium in time for the beginning of the 2016/17 season.
