Play at the Boleyn – one more time!

Supporters are being given what may be a final chance to play at the Boleyn Ground this summer.

West Ham fans have the opportunity to play at the BG for what could be the last time before the stadium is demolished next summer, when the last ever Danny Mardell Knockout Challenge tournament returns to the ground where the first tournament took place back in 2006.

The tournament - in aid of the Downs Syndrome Association (a cause close to the hearts of some of us here at KUMB towers) will take place on Saturday 6 June.

Teams will be given a minimum of three 15-minute matches, as well as a spot of lunch and a pint. Entries are invited from squads of ten – games up to and including the semi-finals are played six-a-side on small-sized pitches, whilst the final is played 10-a-side on the full pitch.

The cost per team is £700 and the organisers have asked for squads to raise a further £500 (£50 a head) in sponsorship for this worthy cause.

For team registration and further information please contact Alexa Dizon on 0333 121 2300 (not premium rate) or by email at alexa.dizon@downs-syndrome.org.uk.

Meanwhile for a flavour of how the first tournament went, you can read a report from our own Gordon Thrower, who has just about recovered from that first tournament all those years ago.
