West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate has added himself to the long list of casualties at the Boleyn Ground after sustaining a knock in training.

The 28-year-old forward has started both Premier League fixtures for the Hammers so far this season but is set to miss at least two games after injuring himself at Chadwell Heath.

Zarate now looks set to miss both the Bournemouth and Liverpool games, although he expects to return in time for the home clash with Newcastle at the Boleyn on Monday, 14 September.

Slaven Bilic now has just Diafra Sakho available from his four-strong selection of strikers, with Zarate joining Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia in the treatment room.

Modibo Maiga, whose Hammers career has enjoyed a brief renaissance as a result could step in to partner the Senegal international against the Cherries this weekend although youngster Elliott Lee is another possibility to fill the void.
