West Ham have completed the capture of midfielder Alex Song from Barcelona - on a one-year contract.

The former Cameroon international, 28 next month has returned to the Boleyn Ground on a 12-month deal which ties him to the club until next summer.

The news was confirmed late on Monday night by Jack Sullivan, son of West Ham's co-owner David Sullivan via his twitter feed.

Earlier in the month it looked as if Song, who spent last season at the Boleyn Ground on loan would return to Barcelona after talks between the two parties broke down.

However West Ham have resurrected the move, even though Song is likely to be sidelined with a persistent ankle injury until the end of October.

The club are also poised to sign Nikica Jelavic from Hull City and Victor Moses from Chelsea (on a season-long loan) before the transfer window closes tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6pm BST.
