Young West Ham full back Leo Chambers has joined League One strugglers Colchester United on loan.

The highly-rated right-sided defender has teamed up with former Academy star George Moncur and Kevin Keen, the Essex club's current manager for the next month.

"We are pleased to welcome West Ham defender Leo Chambers on loan ahead of Saturday's game against Shrewsbury," read a statement on Colchester's website.

"He has joined the U's on an initial month's loan up to and including March 26th and is straight into Saturday's squad for the game against Shrewsbury."

20-year-old Chambers, who is yet to make a first team appearance for West Ham this season will take the number 32 shirt for the duration of his stay at Colchester.

He has made a total of three appearances for the Hammers in total, with all three coming during the 2013/14 season in the early stages of the Capital One Cup.
