Dimitri Payet gave his fellow countrymen a taste of the sublime skills West Ham United fans have been revelling in all season when he scored another wonder free kick for France against Russia in Paris last night.

West Ham's talisman, who celebrated his 29th birthday yesterday came on with the French leading 2-1 through goals from Leicester midfielder N'Golo Kante and former Hammers target Andre-Pierre Gignac to score with his first touch - a trademark, 30-yard free kick.

There was barely a team mate in front of Payet when he stepped up to send a viciously-curving free kick into the corner of Zenit goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin's net - much to the delight of the Parisian crowd, watching their first full international since last year's attacks.

France went on to won the game 4-2 with the West Ham star playing a major role in his nation's last goal too, scored by Bayern's Kingsley Coman. Alexander Kokorin and Yuri Zhirkov netted for the Russians.
