Cresswell is going nowhere, insists Bilic

Slaven Bilic has dismissed reports linking full back Aaron Cresswell with a return to his home town club.

A number of media sources suggested this week that Liverpool were one of a number of clubs hopeful of luring the former Ipswich Town defender away from the Boleyn Ground this summer.

However Bilic effectively issued a hands-off warning to any potential suitors today when he insisted that Cresswell was happy to remain at the club and looking forward to playing in the Olympic Stadium later this year.

"He’s having a great season," said Bilic, speaking to the media at today's press conference.

"Last year, he was Hammer of the Year. He’s a great professional, it's great to have him and it’s a privilege to have those kind of players. Last season he played nearly every game, this season he's missed only one, I think. So he's great.

"He's improved a lot this season on the ball. He was always good with his crosses, skills and technique and he's almost like a playmaker on the left side of the defence. Defensively, he's improved tremendously. He has become a great full-back and a complete player.

"Of course, playing regularly and so well he's attracted the interest of many clubs. Bigger clubs you said, but I don't agree!

"I spoke to him; firstly he’s under contract and secondly -which is much more important nowadays - he is really happy and loves it here. He can’t wait for the new season and the hype surrounding it.

"He is very happy and going to stay with us for a long time, hopefully."
