West Ham United have confirmed that Norwegian international Havard Nordtveit will join the club when the transfer window re-opens on 1 July.

As exclusively revealed here on KUMB.com back in March, the defensive midfielder - who can also operate at right back - will move to the Olympic Stadium on a free transfer from BMG, who ended their 2015/16 campaign fourth in the Bundesliga (thus qualifying for the Champions League).

Speaking to the club's website about his impending move, the 25-year-old said he was realising a dream by coming to England.

“It has always been a dream for me to play in the Premier League and now I have a big opportunity to do that for West Ham – I cannot wait to start," he said.

“This team has something special, a spirit that I can fit into. I will work hard and hopefully I can get some good moments at this club. I’m looking forward to showing what I can do, but hopefully I have something to help West Ham achieve even more."

Nordtveit - who made 187 appearances in five-and-a-half years for Die Fohlen - will effectively replace Alex Song, who has already returned to parent club Barcelona having completed a second season on loan at the Boleyn Ground.
