Wilson wants Premier League stay

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has revealed that he wants to remain a Premier League striker, having been given a taste last season.

The 24-year-old, who was the subject of a joint bid by West Ham earlier this week told the Bournemouth Echo that he sees his long-term future in England's top flight - suggesting that to remain at his current club may not be uppermost in his thoughts.

"I am a loyal person," he said. "I am grateful to Bournemouth for giving me the opportunity to play at a high level in the Championship.

"We had a good season last year and got promoted and then I got my chance to play in the Premier League. I want to maintain that for as long as possible

"Because I had been out for six months, I didn't take much notice of it [the speculation regarding his future]. I had just come back from injury and then, all of a sudden, I was being linked with clubs.

"It was a bit unrealistic, but you take confidence from your name being linked with big clubs."

West Ham United were reported to have bid 25million for Wilson and team mate Matt Ritchie earlier this week.

Cherries manager Eddie Howe later criticised the timing of the offer, coming 24 hours before Bournemouth's final game of the season ant Manchester United (which they lost 3-1).
