West Ham United have been given the go ahead to add an external 'wrap' to the Olympic Stadium.

Having implemented major changes to their original plans, the club were finally given the green light to proceed by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) last night.

The LLDC Planning Decisions Committee agreed to allow the club to continue with the wrap after reaching a compromise that will see just one giant screen added to the arena's exterior.

The 83mx12m screen will be flanked not by further interactive screens, as originally planned, but by 68 large fabric panels which ,according to the club, are "similar to those used at Wembley Stadium, the Emirates Stadium and Celtic Park".

The club confirmed that the screen - which will be situated above the venue's main access point - will feature videos of club legends and other famous moments, whilst the fabric screens will feature West Ham United's redesigned crest along with accompanying branding.

The club's original plans had been vetoed by the LLDC due to the additional light that would have been produced by the previous solution. The new solution/s will instead adjust to external light levels.
