Enner Valencia's Ecuador were narrowly beaten in a friendly encounter by the United States earlier today.

Hosts USA won the game by a single goal, scored in the final minute of regulation time by Portland's Darlington Nagbe, in a pre-Copa America clash staged in Frisco, Texas.

The Hammers striker, who is widely tipped to be leaving West Ham this summer was a frustrated onlooker for much of the game as his side fell to defeat in a dreary friendly at the Toyota Stadium.

The 26-year-old had just one (off-target) shot at goal during the entire 90 minutes - that coming in the very first minute of the match.

Speaking earlier this week, Valencia insisted that Ecuador have the ability to perform well at the forthcoming Copa America Centenario, which begins on 3 June.

"We have a tremendous desire to get started," he said, speaking via the team's training camp in Guayaquil told La Hora. "We have to believe we'll do well in this tournament - and I think we can do so."
