A brand new team

West Ham United have practically signed an entire new team during the summer transfer window - with the prospect of more to follow ahead of tonight's 11pm deadline.

Despite achieving seventh-place in the Premier League last season, West Ham's best campaign since they finished in the same position under Glenn Roeder 15 years previously, the club have added 11 new faces to the first team and Academy squads since May.

And should former Real Madrid full back Alvaro Arbeloa complete a free transfer tonight, as expected, he would be Slaven Bilic's 12th new arrival during the current transfer window - and that's excluding Manuel Lanzini's new permanent contract status!

Of the new squad members just one is a defender - left back Arthur Masuaku, who was only signed after Aaron Cresswell was ruled out for four months - and one a defensive midfielder (Havard Nordtveit), with Bilic opting instead to concentrate on enhancing his attacking options.

The remainder of the new arrivals so far - Sofiane Feghouli, Andre Ayew, Simone Zaza, Edimilson Fernandes, Toni Martinez, Domingos Quina, Gokhan Tore, Ashley Fletcher and Jonathan Calleri - are all attacking options.

Although several players have arrived on free transfers or loan deals, the club have paid transfer fees for Masuaku (£6m), Ayew (£20m), Zaza (£5m with £20m to follow), Fernandes (£5m) and Martinez (£2.4m) - a total of just under £60m.
