The opposition view: Chelsea

They came, they saw, they threw some plastic bottles and left with their tails between their legs. Chelsea fans have their say following last night's EFL Cup defeat at the OS in the latest edition of the OV...

"I can't really complain about the result. The League Cup has always provided an interesting dichotomy - on the one hand it is always great to win it, on the other hand I am never particularly bothered when we are eliminated (although ideally it wouldn't have been against West Ham). Conte's reaction to going behind and getting largely outplayed in the first hour - the fluidity demonstrated by Lanzini, Antonio and Payet meant that our defence got picked apart time and again - was interesting. He stood firm with the formation. From a long-term perspective this may well have been a wise decision; short-term it obviously didn't work."

"Still a bit gutted to have gone out last night but woken up with a bit of perspective. Both of West Ham's goals were very good goals that weren't really down to poor defending. We created quite a few decent chances so whilst we didn't play well, we were still a threat. It was a London derby, a Cup match away from home so all things considered, 2-1 isn't horrendous. Man City and Spurs have also gone out by one goal to PL opposition."

"Glad we are out of this stupid cup. its funny how Jose won the league and this worthless cup in 2014 but all people remember is that we won the league, no one even calls it a double. Last season Pellegrini won it for Man City and what was his reward? He got fired. All we need to worry about is the league, I wouldn't mind if we lost in the FA Cup first round also. The League is all I care about. we can worry about cups when we have a better squad of players."
- Don Conte

"Out of the three tournaments we are playing in, this is the least important. BUT it's still a tournament. In a season with no Europe, I really wanted deep cup runs in both this and the FA Cup. It was a very disappointing game. Defensively, we were shaky. JT didn't look right at all, and it seemed to make everyone around him a little uncomfortable. Oscar didn't do enough. Willian wasted his chances. Bats and Costa both misfired too. A game littered with defensive frailty, and attacking blunders. We could have conceded several more, and we should have scored several more."

"The most annoying thing for me about tonight is not that we actually got beat, it's that is was West Ham that beat us."

"I'm not going to make a big fuss out of this result. I wont lie, I hate that we lost, but it was one of those days. Maybe too many changes affected the team's groove. West Ham are having their 15 minutes of fame right now but expect them to crash down to earth soon, don't be surprised if they crash out in the next round of EFL Cup and lose in the league. The main focus for us is to finish in the top three, no more experiments and try to go as far as possible in the FA Cup because today's loss is a chance of a trophy already gone this season."

"I'm not that disappointed yesterday but waking up it felt sucks, can't believe we lost to those inbred scums. And for personal selfish reason with no Europe I need my Chelsea midweek match fix, and now there's none until January, bummer."

"Don't forget that WH were 5th [7th, actually - Ed] last season. So they are not that bad as most of us thought. The team was ok - we could beat them easily if Willian, Batschuay, Costa, Hazard, Terry and Kante were more accurate. They missed 5-6 open goals, so just didn't like the risk with Costa. He was so close to yellow card which was going to be a huge problem considering where we are going this weekend."
- Pendergast

"John Terry's legs are gone. He is capable of the odd moment of brilliance, but his time as a centre-half that you can win trophies with are over. You need decent linear speed, which Terry never had but could compensate with good positional sense. But you also need quick turns, very quick in the PL. Terry hasn't got this one at all. As would be expected, his confidence on the ball has also followed his reaction speed. Watch him shuffling his feet even as he's passing to five yards."
- Blue Rod

"The most shocking thing about last night was... the £ 4.90 for a half pint bottle of warm Heineken."
