Charlton post match reaction

Despite coming away from The Valley with a point from last night's clash with Charlton the mood around Upton Park today is one of general disappointment.

For there won't be too many occasions this season when the Hammers play so well and yet fail to win.

Frank Lampard Jnr summed it up when he said: "We should have won, definitely. We dominated the game and had chances to win, so it's a little disappointing just to get a point. It was a great goal from Paolo and I think we were the only team who were going to win the game from then."

Harry Redknapp enthused: "Overall I felt we were excellent and to be fair, we dominated this game more than we did when we won 5-0 at Upton Park.

"I had a very makeshift team out there tonight, so I was pleased at how well we passed the ball and controlled the game. Of the six players who were out, five of them would definitely have played tonight, so I was forced to reshuffle it and they didn't let me down.

And the Hammers boss heaped special praise upon new boys Sebastian Schemmel and Christian Dailly.

"The two lads making their debuts were magnificent," he said. "I thought Schemmel had a great game."

Addicks boss Alan Curbishley was equally glowing about the Hammers performance, despite seeing his team hang on for a point which keeps Charlton above West Ham in the table.

"Credit to West Ham, their passing and movement was fantastic - we've gained a point tonight," he admitted. "If you'd said to me before tonight, after the way they played against us at Upton Park, that we'd get a point I'd have taken that.

"We've played Manchester United and Arsenal this season, yet after this and the game away, I reckon the Hammers are the best we've come up against.

Since we lost 5-0 at West Ham we've stopped letting the goals in but it's affected us the other way in that we are not scoring enough goals. I can't have it all ways."
