The opposition view: Everton

Will Everton fans' inflated sense of their own importance - like that of their Southern brethren from N17 - be cruelly exposed in this week's OV? Read on and discover!

"Traditionally you would expect the home team to attack and entertain their fans a little. The only times clubs will defend at home is when they face the big boys. We have to get used to being a 'big boy' club now. Teams are happy to surrender possession at home and see a draw with Everton as a good result. I was not expecting West Ham to play so negatively at home, but then their entire run up to the match was the way they had concentrated on stopping Lukaku. If we had another striker we could have dropped Lukaku completely and it would've utterly fucked their game plan."

"If their keeper had walked in the first half for his knee-high, studs-up challenge on Mirallas it would have been a very different game. Even more so if the penalty had been given for Collins trying to tear Williams' shirt off his back. I cannot comprehend how the ref missed both of these incidents."

"West Ham did do well to nullify us. Very well. We know we played crap and never had an answer to West Ham snuffing Barkley and Lukaku out so it shows us that we need more and better players so there will be too many good players to stop. Just a bad day at the office, nothing more to it. We cannot isolate this one game and judge our season on it. All teams usually have a goalless game or two per season regardless of how good they are."

"Awful strategy. Awful performance. Awful man-management (of Robles). Awful attitude. In the first half, no shots and (according to the BBC) just one touch in their area. Second half, not much better. Thank goodness we were playing an awful team. A very forgettable day."

"Unreal bad, flat performance,no chances and never really looked like scoring never mind even getting a shot. So-called experts will turn this into how well West Ham defended against Lukaku etc, when he had nothing. West Ham were a touch better but MotD will do well to find anything in that game."
- Ring master

"Dreadful, with nothing riding on the game, I would have thought the team could have played with a bit more freedom and showed some intent. Ponderous, hesitant, and nobody looking like they wanted to take the game by the throat. Jagielka did well, don't know why Davies was subbed at half time. A very poor showing, the only positive is that it offers the powers that be more evidence, if it were needed, that we better get busy in the summer."

"The ghost of Bobby Brown Shoes in that performance..."
- gianthogweed

"One of them games....quiet in the ground, fans miles away from the action, felt kinda weird being there. We didn't do much, may have expected West Ham to come on to us more....they didn't. Game interrupted by loads of knocks and treatments. We had no rythum and couldn't get going, passes went astray, we over hit simple balls and looked to nullify what amounted to nothing from the not-so-happy Hammers. If we have aspirations to have a higher position in the league, its games like this, Stoke, Watford, Bournemouth, Hull where we have to do a lot more than just turn up. Bang average against a bang average side."

"Our new fridge freezer was delivered just before half time so I missed the end of the first half and the start of the second. That was the most exciting part of my afternoon."
- MikeO
