So long, Sam

Academy goalkeeper Sam Howes has been told he can leave West Ham - after ten years with the club.

The 19-year-old joined West Ham from Crystal Palace at the age of 10 and has featured for England's Under 16s, Under 17s, Under 18s and Under 19s.

However the emergence of fellow Academy 'keeper Nathan Trott has led the club to part company with Howes, who is now effectively a free agent.

A keen cricketer who could have played for Surrey before opting for a career in football, Howes made his debut for West Ham's Under 18s at the age of just 15.

He made his international debut for England's Under 16s in March 2013 and most recently featured for his country last June, in a friendly versus Mexico.

Howes' sole involvement with the first team came when he was named as a substitute for the 4th Round FA Cup tie at Anfield last season against Liverpool.
