Head of Player Recruitment Tony Henry says West Ham need "two or three" quality signings this summer.

Henry, who along with co-chairman David Sullivan and Slaven Bilic will be leading the club's summer recruitment programme this summer says that work has been ongoing since January, when the winter transfer window closed.

"You’re always on the lookout for players," Henry told whufc.com. "I have a group of scouts who go around the world looking for players.

"Basically, we look at players all the time. We do reports, we then go back to the manager and I sit down with the manager every week and we're putting plans in place all the time for every window.

"We need two or three [quality players], maximum. If we can get the ones that we want, I think we’ll be a really good team next year."

Henry - who in an earlier role persuaded Everton boss David Moyes to sign an 18-year-old John Stones - also explained the process behind luring potential signings to the club.

"We do our homework," he added. "You've also got to try and find out about the character of the player and what his attitude is like. What he's like off the field - you do as much background work as you can.

"We try and cover as much as we can. We're obviously not going to cover every country but we know the sort of players we want here now. We know what Slaven wants,. we know what's good for the team and what will make us better.

"I think this season we've got a really good chance of getting a couple in that'll be good for us."
