End of the road for Westley (and others)

Filed: Thursday, 25th May 2017
By: Staff Writer

Sam Westley, the son of Academy Director Terry Westley has been released by West Ham United.

The 23-year-old moved from Stoke City to West Ham in July 2014, the same month that his father was hired as the replacement for club legend Tony Carr.

However Westley Jnr failed to make a single first team appearance - despite remaining at the club for the next three years.

Also leaving with immediate effect are Jonathan Calleri and Gokhan Tore, whose season-long loan spells have expired, and Alvaro Arbeloa, whose 12 month contract has ended.

With regards to the Academy, Sam Howes, Sam Ford and Kyle Knoyle have all been released, although Moses Makasi and Noha Sylvestre have signed extended contracts.

Meanwhile West Ham have triggered an clause in Alex Pike's contract, extending his stay by a further 12 months.
