Randolph a winner despite blunder

West Ham United's reserve goalkeeper Darren Randolph was on the winning side last night as the Republic of Ireland beat Uruguay 3-1 in Dublin.

However the Hammers 'keeper was heavily criticised for making an error that led to the South Americans' equaliser, after he failed to deal with a deep cross.

Jonathan Walters put the hosts ahead with 28 minutes on the clock, only for the visitors to restore parity ten minutes later after Randolph came out to meet a free kick but was beaten to the ball by Jose Gimenez.

Fortunately Randolph's error failed to prove too costly, as goals from Cyrus Christie and James McClean ensured the Republic ran out 3-1 winners ahead of next week's World CUp qualifier against Austria.
