Bad night for Di Canio and James [video]

Hammers legend Paolo Di Canio was back to his controversial best last night as he starred for Italy in the Star Sixes tournament.

Di Canio was on the losing side as Italy were beaten 2-1 by a strong Brazilian team featuring the likes of Gilberto Silva, Julio Baptista and Roberto Carlos.

And despite having recently celebrated his 49th birthday, Di Canio proved to have lost none of his attitude or inherent ability to become embroiled in an argument, as the video below clearly demonstrates!

The first day of the tournament - which culminates with the knock-out phases on Sunday - didn't go particularly well for host nation England either; the nine-man squad, featuring another former Hammer in David James were thrashed 4-1 by Spain.

Day 1: Results

England 1-4 Spain (Group A)
Mexico 1-3 Scotland (Group A)
Nigeria 3-2 China (Group B)
Brazil 2-1 Italy (Group B)
Portugal 4-6 Denmark (Group C)
Germany 4-3 France (Group C)
