Jack Collison admits that it "feels fantastic" to be back at the club where he learnt his trade as a top flight footballer.

As revealed on KUMB last week, Collison - who is currently training for his UEFA A coaching badge, the second-highest tier available - has been appointed as the club's new U16s manager.

"Obviously I have many great memories with the club and I've been through an awful lot," he told whufc.com. "Some good times and some bad times.

“I came through as a kid into the reserves and obviously made my mark on the first team so to come back in a coaching capacity is really exciting; I just can't wait to get going now.

“I spoke to Terry [Westley] a couple of times and the opportunity to come home came up for me.

"To see his passion, the plan they have here and to have the opportunity to get back home and help some of these young lads to try and help them on their journeys was really exciting."

Collison, now 28, made 121 appearances for West Ham during his playing career, which was cut short following a string of injuries from which he failed to fully recover.
