Trevor Sinclair will appear in court before Christmas in order to answer charges of assaulting a police officer, drink-driving and racially aggravated public disorder.

The former Hammer, now 44, had been ordered to return to court on 19 December to answer a string of charges that arose following a domestic incident at his house in Victory Boulevard, Lytham, a fortnight ago.

In addition to the above charges, he has also been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis - but won't face a potential charge relating to a traffic offence on the same night, when a pedestrian was injured by Sinclair's car.

"Mr Sinclair was also arrested on suspicion of assault and a separate criminal damage matter but will face no further action in respect of those matters," a spokesman for Lancashire Police told the BBC.

Sinclair, who is often seen on TV where he works as a BBC pundit has been absent from our screens since the incidents took place.
