New arrivals imminent, promises Sullivan

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has told West Ham supporters to expect "two or three" new arrivals in next month's transfer window.

Sullivan, writing for the Arsenal edition of the club's match day programme insists that David Moyes' squad is set to be improved by the new arrivals - although the manager is yet to determine which areas are in most need of a boost.

"David [Moyes] is still weighing up the areas we are short in but you can be rest assured two or three players will be brought in to improve the team," writes Sullivan.

"Before then, we have players available again after injury, with more set to return soon, too, so there is competition for places."

One area in which Moyes is thought to be keen to improve is in attack, with Diafra Sakho still determined to leave for pastures new and Andy Carroll no more reliable than he has ever been.

That has resulted in West Ham being linked with the likes of Danny Ings (Liverpool) and Olivier Giroud (Arsenal), the latter potentially on loan for the remainder of the season.

Moyes is also thought to be keen on signing a defensive midfielder to assist the likes of Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate, the latter of whom has been unsettled at West Ham for some considerable time.
