Defeat at Bournemouth is unthinkable, says Reid

Winston Reid believes that defeat at home to Newcastle yesterday means that getting a positive result at Bournemouth is imperative.

Following yesterday's hugely disappointing 3-2 defeat at home to a team that hadn't won in the Premier League since October, Reid insisted that West Ham need to take something against the Cherries - who were smashed 4-0 by runaway league leaders Manchester City yesterday - when they meet on Boxing Day.

"You have to take your chances and we didn’t, so we have to move forward and get some points away at Bournemouth," Reid told whufc.com.

"It’s tough and tight down at Bournemouth, so it’s not going to be easy, but we have to go there and do what we had done in recent weeks minus Saturday’s game. We’ll be in on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to work on our shape and tactics and we’ll be ready to go."

Reid's thoughts were echoed by team mate Arthur Masuaku, one of few to escape from the Newcastle defeat with any credit.

"In my opinion, we didn't do enough to win [against Newcastle]," he said."We now have to go and try and win the next game, on Tuesday, against Bournemouth.

"We’re all confident but to lose this kind of game, the confidence will go down. We just need to be positive as a group and hopefully things will change."
