David Moyes is set to continue with his policy of playing Academy stars when League One Shrewsbury visit the Olympic Stadium tonight for the FA Cup 3rd round replay.

The Hammers boss intends to include the likes of Reece Burke, Josh Cullen and Declan Rice in his match day squad when United host Paul Hurst's high-flying Shrews for a second time following their stalemate at New Meadow just over a week ago.

"They’re definitely in the squad," said assistant manager Alan Irvine. "The team will be picked on Tuesday once we’ve taken full account of all the bumps.

"We wanted Burke and Cullen to come back [from Bolton] and we needed them because of the situation prior to the first game. They're definitely in the squad. The two of them have impressed us since they've been back."

However one potential future star who will miss out is defender Reece Oxford, who sustained a freak foot injury upon returning to England following his half-season loan with Borussia Monchengladbach.

"He’s only actually trained with us twice," said Irvine. "For some unknown reason he decided to kick the ground and he hurt his ankle. I was joking with him and said: ‘why did you do that?’

"He was just a little bit off balance, went to strike the ball, caught the ground and hurt his ankle. It was a freak injury really and it’s one that’s been niggling him a bit. He trained with us on Monday and I’m really looking forward to seeing him play at some point."

West Ham v Shrewsbury kicks off at 7.45pm; tickets are still available directly from West Ham's ticket office. You may see assistant manager Irvine's pre-match press conference below.
