Swansea's South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-yueng had dismissed reports linking him with a transfer deadline day move to east London.

Ki was set to be used as a makeweight in the deal that would see the £18million Andre Ayew return to the Liberty Stadium.

However the 29-year-old threw a major spanner in the works when he revealed that he had no intention of leaving Swansea.

"I want to be here and if Swansea want me to stay here, then I can help this team stay in the Premier League," he said following the Swans' defeat of Arsenal.

"It is a difficult time but I don’t think I am going to leave. I don’t need to move. I don’t think West Ham are better than us - we are fighting with them to avoid relegation, so I think I want to play with my team-mates.

"I want to stay in the league at Swansea and I think me playing in this game means I will stay."

Despite the setback, West Ham remain hopeful of conclusing a deal. Ki's team mate Alfie Mawson has also been heavily linked with the Hammers during the current transfer window.
