The Irish problem

West Ham United co-owner David Gold put his foot in it again this morning, having insisted live on air that Irish international Declan Rice could become an England regular.

The octogenarian was speaking with Talksport's Jim White in the wake of Manuel Pellegrini's appointment when he made his latest faux pas - just two months after central defender Rice made his full international debut for the Republic of Ireland.

Despite being born in London and therefore being eligible to represent either England or Ireland, the teenager nailed his colours firmly to the green mast in March when making his debut for Martin O'Neill's Ireland side in a 1-0 defeat against Turkey.

Unfortunately for Gold, his slip-up was spotted by a number of supporters, who immediately took to social media in order to highlight Gold's latest err...
