And according to reports from Italy, Lazio's sporting director Igli Tare is due to fly to London imminently in order to complete the transfer.

Anderson, who has spent the last five years in Italy could be the first of two arrivals at West Ham this week, with goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski close to completing his move to United.

Swansea have accepted West Ham's latest bid for the 33-year-old, thought to be worth £5million, that will see the Polish international make an instant return to the Premier League.

Fabianski is just one of two Swansea players the Hammers are hoping to lure to London from South Wales, with central defender Alfie Mawson also a serious target. Swansea are hodling out for in excess of £20million for the 24-year-old, who hails from Uxbridge.

The Hammers are currently considering whether to meet Swansea's demands or pursue their interest in Marlon Santos, the Barcelona defender for whom a bid of £13million is reported to have already been accepted.

New manager Manuel Pellegrini is hoping to sign two central defenders, with a third key candidate - the highly-rated French Under 21 international Issa Diop - having been the subject of an earlier bid (reported to be circa €20million) this week.

West Ham have signed just the one player so far since the transfer window re-opened on 17 May - right back Ryan Fredericks, on a free transfer from Fulham.
