West Ham's bid to sign Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson from Lazio has been shelved - for the time being.

According to reports emanating from Italy on Monday afternoon, West Ham have finally conceded defeat in their attempts to sign the 25-year-old playmaker.

And that, says FIFA agent Vincenzo Morabito, is as a result of the two sides being unable to find common ground. "Felipe Anderson to West Ham will not be done," Morabito told TV show Maracana.

"Lazio's request for €40million is considered to be too high and West Ham - who had offered €35million - will turn to other objectives. They have given up on Felipe Anderson, having found negotiations with [Lazio President Claudio] Lotito impossible ".

West Ham have been chasing the Brazilian, who is thought to be one of new manager Manuel Pellegrini's key targets, for some considerable time.

Yet despite earlier reports suggesting the two parties had reached agreement over the price of Anderson, there now appears to be little prospect of the player joining West Ham in the near future.
