"We are very happy to welcome Jack to West Ham United and look forward to working with him, starting at our training camp here in Switzerland," said a delighted Pellegrini.

"Jack is a player with excellent technical ability, combined with great energy and commitment, and has proven his quality both in the Premier League and at international level.

"Most importantly, he is hungry to play for West Ham, and determined to reproduce the level of performance that he has shown in the past.

"At 26, he still has many years of football in front of him, and I believe he will be a great asset for us."

Wilshere, who left Arsenal after 17 years in north London has signed a three-year contract with West Ham, worth in the region of 5million per year.

The Stevenage-born midfielder made a total of 197 appearances for the Gunners since making his first team debut in a 4-0 win at Blackburn in September 2008, a spell in which he also scored 14 goals.

And he became the 1,167th player to represent England when making his full debut as a late substitute in a 2-1 win over Hungary at Wembley in 2010 at the age of just 18.

Wilshere was most recently selected for England as part of the squad that dew 1-1 draw with Italy in March of this year, but withdrew due to injury. His most recent appearance for the Three Lions came in the 2-1 European Championship defeat to Iceland in June 2016.
