The opposition view: Chelsea

Are the Blues rapidly becoming a one-man team? Judging by the thoughts of Chelsea fans post-match, you may be forgiven for thinking so. Enjoy the reasonable and the not-so-reasonable thoughts of our friends from out West, in this week's edition of the OV...

"Hard to beat a team when they put 10 players in the box and don't come out and play. I know they had their chances but they were not trying to do anything more than defend. This is a game we should have won but if you would have asked me before the season, with everything that went on in the summer, that we'd have 16 points after six games, I would take that all day."

"Dismal performance, never really got out of the third gear the whole game. Our best chances fall to the box-to-box players, it's either he's at the wrong place at the wrong time, or the rest of the attackers not up to speed in the game. I hate West Ham, happy to lose three or four against any other teams, but save their best for us. We let them got away with it, they were without the usual suspects to hurt us, and we never pushed enough for the goals."

"Not one our better performances, but we did ok. West Ham away is one of our most difficult fixtures - it's a London derby and they always up their game against us. I think it's a bit arrogant to expect us to be hammering a London rival away from home. For me that's a point gained, rather that two points dropped. Now we have a great double header against Liverpool to look forward to!"

"We didn't play well today but we still got our best players into positions where they usually hurt the opposition. Today, though we didn't produce the quality in the important moments. The usual suspects will obviously get some stick, but Hazard wasted two big moments in the second half trying to play flicks to Morata. It's no surprise to me, that when Hazard doesn't play well, we invariably drop points. We don't have a lot of match winners or players that will pop up with goals at key times. It's early days under Sarri, so far we have been great, but it's still very much a work in progress. He will probably need another summer before we are really ready to mix it with the best over the course of a season."

"Today showed where we are as a team at the moment. Sarri has got us retaining the ball better and passing neatly enough but with little cutting edge and no consistent use of width. A Pat Nevin or Damien Duff in our side would be a godsend. West Ham were good value for the draw, and that was without their best striker. IMO any talk of us winning the EPL this season is laughable. Getting that 4th spot is the goal this year and it won't be easy. In fact if anything happens to Hazard it will be nigh on impossible."

"At that point, having lost three of our last five games vs these bar stewards at their sihthole and only won once, that's gotta be a psychological problem. Nonetheless, with the lack of quality upfront and Hazard having a Belgium day (i.e, a rather underwhelming performance), we still managed to dominate those mongs and should have gotten away with at least a 1-0 win had we had a decent striker..."

"I remember when CFC won the League a couple of season ago West Ham knocked us out of the League Cup. Then I remember the loss last season - it is a London derby and it makes total sense. Remember when Spurs put on the pressure on us? They lost this fixture, which enabled us to win the League - I guess we need to give West Ham more credit vs London sides (but didn't they get rolled over by the Gooners)?"

"Credit to West Ham for a well organised performance, they created the biggest chance of the match so we're maybe fortunate to leave with a point. Our wide play continually went back to the edge of the box, West Ham planned for this and swarmed us out every time. It's still progress, and it's probably a performance giving a fair reflection of where we are at the moment, but for all our quality we are in real need of a cuttig edge to be realistically competing for the league this year."

"We look tired. Again the Hammers frustrate us. What is it that they have against us?"

"Sky Sports talking as if we’d lost and the Spammers had won. The only winner here was for the anti football brigade, no wonder a Wet Spam season ticket is so cheap as they can’t guarantee there will be any football played. What’s going to happen when this lot play Newcastle, both teams will stay in their own penalty areas! Another point so onwards and upwards, bring on the scroungers next weekend."

"Fuck West Ham and their wank as soon as we come to town... they have been so so shit and bang they are ready for us, and their manager can do one too. Fuck me we were crap today... what were they thinking FFS? They thought this would be easy? Silly points dropped... and once again fuck West Ham."
