Felipe Anderson maintains that West Ham fully deserved their win over Arsenal.

The Brazilian winger, West Ham's top goalscorer thus far this season played a major role in the 1-0 win that pushed West Ham into the Premier League's top eight.

And he revealed that Manuel Pellegrini got his tactics for the weekend's big London derby absolutely spot on.

"We trained a lot tactically for this game," he told whufc.com. "I spent five years in Italy where tactics are very important and I always like to listen and learn - especially with someone like our manager.

"It's important to have strength in attack, which is my main attribute - but it's also important to press at times, to defend. We defended together, as a unit, for 90 minutes, and that makes me very happy."

And despite not adding to his own personal tally against the Gunners, Anderson admitted that he was delighted for Declan Rice, who scored the only goal of the game to win all three points for West Ham.

"I’m very happy for Declan because he’s a guy who is extremely unselfish," said Anderson. "He plays more for his teammates than for himself, he’s always running, always fighting, and today he scored a beautiful goal that gave us a very important victory.

"So, I’m very happy for him and I hope it happens more often."

Anderson, West Ham's current record signing has made 25 appearances for West Ham since moving from Italy last summer.

His tally of eight goals, all of which have been scored in the Premier League equates to a goal every three games or so, although the Brazilian has failed to register in his last four United appearances.
