West Ham have denied reports that they are the 'London club' reported to be negotiating a short-term deal for Swedish veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now 37, the well-travelled striker is currently employed by MLS side LA Galaxy - but reports today stated that a London-based Premier League club has been in contact with his representatives regarding a short-term contract.

With Galaxy not returning to action until March, that led to a slew of gossip suggesting that West Ham, who will be in need of a new goalscorer should Marko Arnautovic leave the club, were the interested party.

However that has since been denied by the Hammers, who are nonetheless keeping tabs on several forwards as the transfer window progresses.

* The interested party are thought to be Chelsea, who played without a recognised striker in their narrow 2-1 win against struggling Newcastle Utd at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
