But with little more than a year left on his current contract, the Milanese are thought to be considering cashing in on the World Cup star - and West Ham, along with Tottenham, Arsenal and one or two others are considering whether to make a bid for the player.

The 25-year-old began his career with Auxerre before joining Monaco in an €8million switch two years ago this summer. 12 months later he was on the move again, this time to join Torino in Serie A in an exchange deal involving full-back Antonio Barreca.

Meite, who scored twice in his first four appearances for Torino has made 31 appearances for the club this season and is said to be valued around the €13million mark.
