One of West Ham's most highly-rated Academy stars has signed a three-year contract - with League One Coventry City.
Josh Pask was considered to be one of the Academy's hottest prospects five years ago when snubbing the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United to sign an extended scholarship with West Ham.Speaking at the time, Academy Director Tony Carr was already looking forward to promoting a 16-year-old Pask, who hails from Manor Park, to the Under 21s.
"He has a great attitude and goes about his game in a quiet but effective way and we look forward greatly to working with him and moving him up to the Under-21s as soon as possible," said Carr, speaking in 2014.
However fast forward five years and Pask, who was recently released by West Ham United on a free transfer is seeking to kick start his career once more with a move to Coventry, with whom he had signed until 2022.
"I’m proper excited," Pask told Coventry's website. "I found out a few weeks ago. As soon as I found out they were interested in signing me, I couldn’t not take the offer.
“It was great at West Ham. I was there for a long time, from the age of eight until now at 21, so a long, long time. I feel like they helped me a lot and got me to the place I am today, so I give them thanks."
Pask was one of several promising Academy starts released by West Ham last month at the end of the 2018/19 season. Others to be told they have no future at the club included Moses Makasi, Noha Sylvestre and Vashon Neufville.
