The news that Jack Wilshere is still struggling to regain full fitness will come as no surprise to West Ham fans.

According to the Daily Mail, 28-year-old Wilshere is no closer to making a return to first team action despite having been sidelined since October, with his last outing coming in the 2-0 defeat again Everton at Goodison Park.

And hopes that he may be in a position to feature in the corresponding fixture, when the Toffees visit Stratford little more than a week from now have all but been extinguished after Wilshere reported ongoing issues with his pelvis.

Despite having undergone a recent operation and scans having failed to show any signs of outstanding damage to his pelvic area, the player continues to feel pain, says the story.

And that will rule him out for an unspecified amount of time as West Ham's medical team battle to get Wilshere back to full fitness.

Since signing a three-year contract with West Ham in the summer of 2018, the former England international has made just EIGHT starts for West Ham in all competitions - and a total of just 16 appearances.

His only goal for the club came in the Carabao Cup win at Newport County back in August, since when he had featured on just five occasions.

It is well known that Wilshere earns in the region of £100,000 per week, which means he has earned circa £8million since moving to the club he supported as a boy.

That equates to some £500,000 per appearance - which makes even Andy Carroll's record look reasonable by comparison.
