Ten players strongly linked with a move to West Ham

With pre-season set to commence within the next few days, transfer rumours are building once again.

And for West Ham there have been no shortage of players linked with a move to Stratford as David Moyes seeks to strengthen his pool ahead of the new season and introduce some much-needed youth to the current first team squad.

With this very much in mind, and to save you flicking through a sea of (often dubious) social media sources, we hereby present a list of the players - in no particular order - most strongly linked with a move to West Ham ahead of the forthcoming 2020/21 season.

Antonee Robinson

The American international is definitely on the move this summer after his Wigan Athletic side were relegated to League One following their eleventh hour, 12 point deduction. Robinson appears destined for the Premier League but Sheffield United are thought to have moved first with an impending bid for the young left back. West Ham's apparent indifference could suggest David Moyes has his eyes on a different target...

Eberechi Eze

David Moyes' transfer war chest may be limited - or even empty if rumours emanating from various sources are to be believed - yet the Queens Park Rangers forward is likely to be one for whom the manager is likely to go cap in hand to the Chairman for. West Ham's main rivals for his signature, Crystal Palace are reported to have seen a £12million bid rejected, with the Championship club are thought to value the 22-year-old - who Moyes watched personally some weeks ago - closer to the £20million mark. West Ham are yet to move, but that may all change in the coming days if funds can be raised - whether by player sales or other means.

Ryan Manning

The Championship has proven to be a happy hunting ground for Moyes over the years (we'll conveniently ignore Jordan Hugill for now) and it's no surprise that many of his targets come from the English second tier. Another Rangers player, Irish left-back/midfielder Manning has been touted as a possible summer signing and was also watched closely by Moyes recently. At 24 he has his best years ahead of him and could be a natural successor to Aaron Cresswell, who also arrived at West Ham via the Championship although West Ham are yet to make their move.

Matty Cash

It's an old link that refuses to go away, but Moyes is known to be a key admirer of the Nottingham Forest right back. Cash is one of the Championship's most highly-rates full backs and at 22 is the perfect age to be part of Moyes long-term rebuilding plan. But having been valued in excess of £15million by the Tricky Trees, it's unlikely he'll be making the move south any time soon - unless the manager can generate some of his own funds through player sales.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Although he will almost certainly be out of West Ham's price range, the Arsenal full back's availability has generated plenty of interest from inside the club. A suggested (and quite ludicrous) £30million price tag is suitably high enough to put off most suitors although Moyes may be keen if that sky-high valuation was to be a little more realistic come any potential negotiations. With plenty of Premier League experience the 22-year-old would be a solid signing for most clubs; Tottenham are also believed to be keeping a note of the situation.

Shane Duffy

Brighton's Irish international defender has struggled to hold down a first team place this season but David Moyes is said to be an admirer of the no-nonsense centre half, who at 28 doesn't necessarily fit the mould of the kind of player the manager is keen to lure to Stratford this summer. Yet the Hammers are said to be monitoring his situation closely even though another Albion, newly-promoted West Bromwich, are considered to be favourites to sign Duffy with whom they are said to have held exploratory talks already. Moyes could move if that falls through but is not likely to entertain entering a bidding process.

Lukas Masopust

A little left-field perhaps but it has been widely suggested that West Ham have been showing interest in the Slavia Prague wide man, who is a former team mate of recent arrival Tomas Soucek and said to have been recommended to Moyes by the midfielder. Rumours of a rejected bid (in the region of £5million, from Czech outlet iSport) abound and further speculation suggests West Ham are considering an increased offer for the 27-year-old, but this remains unsubstantiated at present.

Monchu

This may well be one of those "pick an English club to add to the list" scenarios but Sport Lens and others claim West Ham are interested in landing Barcelona's 20-year-old midfielder. The Spanish giants are said to be keen to tie the young prospect down to a new, four-year deal but Monchu - who is rated around the £20million mark - is reported to be keeping his options open. Yet with numerous clubs listed as having expressed their interest, most of whom will be able to outspend West Ham this summer, it could simply be a case of "Monchu, forget about me" as far as David Moyes is concerned.

Ollie Watkins

The Brentford forward has been on West Ham's watch list for some time now and the club's interested was piqued when the Bees failed in their bid to win promotion to the Premier League in last week's Championship play off final. However David Moyes is likely to face stiff competition if he were to move for the 24-year-old who is also interesting the likes of Leeds and Tottenham. A Premier League move this summer looks pretty much nailed on one way or the other, although West Ham remain a risky bet to sign the forward according to the bookies who currently have the Hammers as 25-1 outsiders.

Morgan Sanson

Well we couldn't have a transfer round-up without the Marseille man included! Linked with West Ham for the past three or four transfer windows the central midfielder - who would complement Moyes' existing midfield pair of Soucek and Rice (if not replace one) is once again being tipped as a potential Hammer by French outlet Le10Sport, who also have Tottenham and Arsenal in for the 25-year-old who has been with the Ligue 1 side since 2017 (and constantly linked with a move to Stratford since). A staple in the French Under 19 and Under 21 squads, Morgan is yet to appear for the full national side and a move to the Premier League may yet be on the cards.
