Can't print your own? Then leave home early

Supporters who have purchased tickets for this weekend's pre-season friendly against Atalanta have been told they should arrive at the club's ticket office no later than 90 MINUTES before kick off.

West Ham meet the Italians on Saturday afternoon at the London Olympic Stadium as the Hammers prepare to open the stadium fully for the first time since lockdown began nearly 18 months ago.

And that presents the club with an opportunity to properly test its new digital platform for the first time, with most supporters using their mobile devices to gain access to the stadium.

An extra journey will be necessary for those fans without access to a smart phone

However fans without access to a smart phone, many of whom are elderly and unable to stand for long periods, now face the headache of having to queue at the Olympic Park's ticket office.

And the advice released by the club on Tuesday was for affected fans to arrive "no later than 1.30pm on the day of the game" - meaning that several supporters will face having to leave home up to two hours earlier - or even more in some cases - than was previously the case in order to arrive on time.

Although the club also point out that "special arrangements will be in place for any supporters" for any supporters who are unable to do so, the new scheme continues to anger many fans.

Alternative options for supporters attending this weekend's match are to have their e-tickets sent to their mobile devices or to print paper tickets via a home printer - although once again this is an option not feasible for many.

"Should you be unable to download your ticket to your digital device or print at home and require to take up the final option above, please arrive early at London Stadium and the Club will endeavour to print your ticket as quickly as possible to ensure your smooth entry to the stadium for this fixture," say West Ham.

Yet just how long some fans will be forced to wait in the ticket office queue - and in what are predicted to be inclement weather conditions, with rain showers already predicted for Saturday afternoon - remains to be seen.
