German media outlet Sport1 claim West Ham have made Hertha Berlin aware of their interest in central defender Niklas Stark.

The 26-year-old defender is out of contract with his current club at the end of the current season and is being eyed as a potential January replacement for the injured Angelo Ogbonna, according to the source.

Although never a regular at full international level, Stark has featured twice for the national team - once in 2019 and again in 2020 - and featured at all youth levels from Under 17 to Under 21.

Having began his career with Nurnberg, Stark moved to current club Berlin six years ago and has now featured on more than 170 occasions for Die Alte Dame. This season he has featured on 11 occasions scoring an average match rating of 6.64 [whoscored.com].

In other transfer news West Ham continue to be linked with a move for Sparta Prague striker Adam Hlozek (see highlights reel below), who is also said to be interesting Liverpool.

However the Hammers have the upper hand in any potential negotiations due to Sparta's Chairman being new West Ham director Daniel Kretinsky. David Moyes is seeking to boost his attacking options with Michail Antonio his only recognised striker presently.

19-year-old Hlozek has scored four league goals for Sparta so far this season from 13 appearances, with his only other goal during the current campaign coming for the Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifier.
