Pep Guardiola left Stratford with a point that ensured Manchester City remain favourites to land the Premier League title - and praised David Moyes' side for their efforts.

The Citizens escaped with a draw despite having trailed 2-0 at the half time interval to a Jarrod Bowen brace.

And Guardiola, whose side remain favourites to secure the Premier League crown next weekend knowing they simply have to beat Aston Villa at home knew his side had been in a game against the Hammers.

"It was so difficult," he said. "They are an exceptional team with set pieces and transitions.

"In general we played really well and we created enough chances. We had patience and while we would have preferred to win, a draw leaves it in our hands and we’ll try and win the title with our family.

"We didn’t expect to win the title with three, four or five games to spare. Both us and Liverpool have had an exceptional season. We won’t look at anyone else - we’ll just try and win our game. I’m pretty sure the Etihad Stadium will be full [next weekend] and they’ll be supporting us.”

And Guardiola also expressed his delight at the performance of £100million man Jack Grealish, whose goal three minutes into the second half set his team on their way to recovery against the Hammers.

"Jack's goal was an incredible finish and that helped us a lot," he said. "He was more involved in the second half and he was perfect."
