David Moyes says Maxwell Cornet is still some distance away from being considered available for selection.

The former Burnley winger has been out of action since before Christmas with a leg injury and has been slated to return on several occasions since, without ever doing so.

And the manager, speaking ahead of tomorrow's trip to Newcastle confirmed that he still had no idea of when Cornet is likely to return.

"We never expected him to be back yet," said Moyes. "We were hoping he would be. He needs to get more pitch work but he's not feeling his calf muscle anymore. He's 60-70% right now."

"He's gone back to France again. He's not ready yet to be stepping up to training levels so we just need to bring him on and hopefully we get him back as quick as he can."

Meanwhile there were no positive updated regarding West Ham's other injured players, Kurt Zouma and Gianluca Scamacca.

"They're all getting better," replied Moyes, when asked to provide an update on their progress. "I can't give you an exact date on any."

However the news was slightly more encouraging regarding new signing Danny Ings, who could be available to play having recovered from the knee injury he sustained during his debut against Everton a fortnight ago.

"Danny is doing quite well, he's got a chance of being available tomorrow," added Moyes. "So that's good news for us but we've got to really assess it and see how he is. We're not quite 100 per cent sure on him yet bur he's desperate to get back. He's really disappointed he picked up an injury in the first 15-20 seconds of the game.

"We hope that he's fine. He's certainly not 100 per cent and we wouldn't be thinking or expecting him to be but having him around is a big boost, he's an important player for us. He's a really good signing for us in January. I like him a lot and hopefully he goes on to prove that."

We'll have more for you from the manager's press conference later.
