Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd v Everton: match thread

Enjoyed the first half. Some good entertainment from both sides. Second half a bit of a downer for me - Moyes took his foot off the pedal. I can understand why - the team is absolutely demoralised and his neck is on the line, I just hate to see 45 minutes of dreary football. Some very nice footwork ...

Re: ✍ Gianluca Scamacca

Whenever he does come back i'd love to see him as an out-and-out number 10. He's got the vision, the ball skills and on-the-spot passing. Genuine question for everyone out out there - do you think he's got the touch for it? Largely a dream on my part - I reckon it'd be cold day in hell for our gaffe...

Re: Leeds United v West Ham United: match thread

Cracking match to watch - thank god for some entertainment after months of repeated borefests from us. Two cracking goals from Leeds - fantastic shots on goal, spot on both times. Scammaca's was out of nothing - blinding shot from distance -a moment of brilliance to capitalise on an unforced error. ...

Re: ✍ Gianluca Scamacca

No idea if we're playing the right system to support him, but he certainly seems like he's got a great touch and an eye for pass. Looking at what we've seen so far I think we're looking at a fantastic number 10 rather than a straight out number 9.

Back to the game itself . . .
Cornet was brilliant when he came on. Very nearly a game-changer. More of the same next time out please.

Re: VAR Thread

Weighing the benefits vs, drawbacks, think I'm still in favour of VAR overall, if only to counter the weekly tsunami of cheating conducted by all of our pros. More specifically, brutal call on this week's VAR vs Chelsea, much better call for the penalty call of handball for Cresswell against Spurs. ...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur: match thread

Great match, enjoyed the performance - miles better than anything we've seen so far this season. :newthumb: Credit to the ref for overturning the penalty decision - live I thought is was a dead cert penalty. Takes a strong ref to overturn their own decision, especially with such fine margins. Really...

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham United: match thread

Enjoyed watching the battle between Soucek and McGinn first half. That was about it as far as positives go for me. Dire performances from both teams. About as much fun as watching paint dry. Fluke goal nicked us three points. Too many unforced errors from our mob. Rice and Bowen looked poor. Rice ne...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Match Thread

Brighton controlled the game. Stronger team by far. Probably should have been 3-0 to them if March(?) hadn't blown his header over the bar with nearly the entire goal free in front of him. Trossard was excellent. Antonio couldn't make anything stick. Was forced out wide way too often. You decide for...

Re: ⚽ Nottingham Forest v West Ham United: match thread

Post-match thoughts: Great match to watch - end to end stuff, give me that any day of the week compared to a borefest. Forest did really well - esp. first 25 minutes or so. MOTM for me was one of three - Henderson in goal, (Nico?) Williams, or the crossbar. The first two played great and stood out f...

Coufal was brilliant today - one of his best performances.
Nice opportunistic strike from Antonio but we did sod-all other than that. Brighton deserved the win.

Re: Europa Conference League 22-23

Gutted about blowing our chance at the Europa proper, but the conference league is a brilliant competition. Best of the lot by a mile in terms of entertainment and some great matches to watch. Seen a bunch of blinding games this season courtesy of space telly and in terms of watching a great game of...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd vs Manchester City: match thread

Despite City's dominance it took an own goal and a nasty deflection for them to get the ball in the back of the net. Fabianski's penalty save was brilliant. Would have been very happy with a point before the game, our mob had to play their socks off to stay in the match. Did very, very well. Nice fi...

Re: ⚽ West Ham Utd vs Manchester City: match thread

Looking back at City results and including the 2-2 draw with the New England Merseyreds on April 10 they've scored 27 goals and conceded 4. We need four things to get anything from this: 1) a ton of luck 2) a slew of dodgy decisions our way 3) a sub-par performance from City 4) a fantastic performan...

Re: Declan Rice

Notwithstanding the opposition he dropped into the defence rather well when Daws went off. Lad can play a bit can't he  Excellent player and I love the idea of a proper ball-playing CB, I've been moaning about us getting one for at least the last 20 years. Ogbonna has shown hints of it. I wan...

Re: ⚽ Eintracht Frankfurt v West Ham United: match thread

They were a much better team and deserved to win both legs. Thought it was a def red card for Cresswell - last man etc and he deservedly saw red. Not a surprise - I like Cresswell but he's going all Sam Byram and getting grabby for lots of our games. Shouldn't be surprised when you get sent off when...

Re: ⚽ Eintracht Frankfurt v West Ham United: match thread

I'd go with Benrahma in the 10 position and see if we can't use him to open them up or at least cause some chaos. He was our best player when he came on last week, and they clearly did not know how to handle him. I'd also drop the slow Cresswell for the faster Johnson or even faster Fredericks, but...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United vs Arsenal: match thread

Given the available players, fixture pressures and opposition Moyes had the team selection and tactics spot on today. The starting 11 - for the most part -played far better than I thought they could. Ryan Fredericks did really well at LB - happy to see him in the side. Did everything he had to defen...

Re: ⚽ West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt: match thread

Entertaining game - three goals, three hits on the woodwork. EF looked great but so what - everything to play for next week. Benrahma super lively and on-form - aside from one ballooned shot to Row Z when he should have crossed to Antonio. He absolutely terrified their defenders. Best I've seen him ...
