Problem is how about if the decision has to be: Matic or nothing.
Nothing then, don't see what signing an ageing player that makes Nobes look like

on huge wages would achieve

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

Well it's all got a bit narky in this thread...When's the dream team of Colin, BFS and Moyes taking over? On a serious note relegation would only clear the decks/give youth a chance if GSB went with somebody like the Cowleys but they're much much more likely to go with a "promotion at all cost...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

I think this is officially the moment that the FA broke football between this and the ridiculous use of the offside tech over the last couple of weeks It's not the FA it's the Premier League, hence Son's red card being rescinded. We have the absurd situation of the Premier League & PGMOL interpreti...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

Has the premier league come out and explained why Burnleys first goal wasn't disallowed for being from an incorrectly given corner? Or do they only do this for the big teams? I'm guessing it's a phase of play thing but it contributed more to their goal than the Sheffield Utd offside did to theirs s...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

I remember writing something similar when Bilic was floundering and on his last legs so the lack of desire to 'succeed' must come from the top and filters down. If the boards entire ethos and ambition is 'stay in the league no matter what' to protect the PL income then that will affect the beliefs ...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

Edit...beaten to it... did Hugh write the Beeb's report today ? While it is accepted Pellegrini bears some responsibility for the current mess, more attention is being placed on the work of sporting director Mario Husillos , who arrived at West Ham with the Chilean in the summer of 2018. Looks like ...

Ben Pearson, 24, former Manchester Utd youth player, currently playing well for Preston NE, CDM/CM, not a goal scorer by any stretch of the imagination but a few guys I know that go to PNE rate him. https://www.lep.co.uk/sport/football/preston-north-end/pne-news/ben-pearson-s-goal-likely-to-remain-a...

Re: VAR - yes or no ?

Danny Kelly (formerly very pro VAR, pretty much nailed it yesterday) Calm , considered and delivered with a hint of despair about how this great game is now evolving. 2m 38 secs of common sense. Was in the same boats as him and I'm still in the same boats as him it seems, it takes a special kind of...

not saying that always spending big gets you top quality, but it does at least show that doing things overall on the cheap doesn't always work either. Not suggesting doing things on the cheap CA but doing things with intelligence given the budget restraints (we all want more spent but with GSB we k...

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager

To me a large part of the reason we’re in this mire is because of lack of investment from the dildos, why the **** would they give him money in jan unless there’s serious concern we’re going down? And if they think that it’ll be a stop gap buy or loans I certainly agree they could/should have inves...

Re: ⚽ Burnley FC v West Ham United: Match thread (09/11)

"There is unhappiness within the club at the decision to sign Roberto on a free transfer last summer. The 33-year-old Spaniard was identified by West Ham’s director of football, Mario Husillos, and the signing was given the green light by Pellegrini. It is understood that Pellegrini and Husillos wa...

Re: Are we signing the right calibre of players?

If we had signed Isaac Hayden, which we should have done, people would have moaned that either a) what's the point when we have Rice b) why are we signing are player who is not a regular at Newcastle and got bombed from Arsenal The point is the club shouldn't give a flying one if we moan or not if ...

Re: Are we signing the right calibre of players?

Manchester United scouts and analysts watch, wait for it, an average of 38 full matches every single day, and have filed 36,000 reports from scouts in more than 30 countries. All of it is stored on a huge database. When they signed Wan-Bissaka from Palace they started with a brief from OGS who descr...

Re: Weekend fixtures: 8-10 November

Clear as day penalty in my opinion. Liverpool would have got it, guaranteed. I actually don't think it is a penalty as I don't think his arm is in an unnatural position and the ball is deflected but , and it's a big but, at the start of the season they made a song and dance about the natural silhou...

Re: Are we signing the right calibre of players?

Trouble is that when we do get linked to a player that's established, experienced, and up for the fight then you get endless comments of 'too old' or 'not good enough for us'. See Rondon for an example. There are loads of hard working players in the Premier League that would have been useful to us ...
