Re: ✍ Welcome, Jarrod Bowen

So, media types have Gordon as a shoo-in because of his performance vs Brazil, but Bowen isn't based on last night - was Gordon that much better?

Well, I think that’s the first time I’ve seen the ref refuse the advice of the VAR - good in general, but **** decision and timing for us

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

I think this is the killer quote from that Sky article - and it's a hard fact to escape. "Put simply, West Ham play like a bad team. And when they lose games the way that they lose them, they are a bad team. That can become really awkward for Moyes when that team includes players of the ability...

Played the same players in the same positions. Genius.
Sure we ended the game with Cresswell, Johnson and JWP on the left - not getting the job done very often…

Re: West Ham United FC Vs Arsenal FC Match thread

The narrative continues on Sky - Moyes was let down by the players, no mention of the tactics that the manager sets out

The bloody narrative from the media that we should be thankful for Moyes and these performances are few and far between - result maybe, but not performance or intent

While I’m not going disagree with the sentiment, Moyes sets up like this - it’s always likely to happen

Re: David Moyes' Claret and Blue Army!

what you mean recently where he has started matches or come on as a sub? But why not just effectively call our manager a liar I suppose Okay, in my opinion, Moyes should be better prepared to deal without Fornals (and Benrahma) given the club were actively trying to sell both players. It shouldn’t ...

Re: Tim Steidten - How should we assess his contribution?

Expecting anyone to do their job correctly in our structure is a tough ask - I’d say anything he achieves is despite the position he’s placed in at times

Re: ✍ Welcome to West Ham, Said Benrahma

He hasn’t done that to Paqueta though. One of the most spontaneous players to ever play for the club. Difference is Paqueta is a brilliant footballer and Benrahma isn’t. Benrahma was never close to good enough to build your team around or accommodate his limitations. His strengths weren’t even that...

Re: ✍ Welcome to West Ham, Said Benrahma

I can't help but think that by trying to turn Benrahma into a hard working player who made the safe choice with the ball more often than not, Moyes took away the essence of what Benrahma was at Brentford - spontaneity certainly wasn't welcomed, think of all those disapproving looks from Moyes... It'...

The whole farce is a butterfly effect from the refs first error which was to only award a yellow to Brewster - the subsequent time and yellow card as a result of that weak decision had a massive effect

Quote from the SkySports match report:

‘But West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola clattered half-time sub McBurnie following a cross into the box - injuring himself in the process’

Think there will generally be little sympathy on this one…

He eluded to just accepting that the standard of officiating is poor - felt Areola was fouled.

Also admitted to being more disappointed that we failed to go 2-0 then 3-1 up when we had chances
